Support for the Undergraduate Brothers
The best example of our supporting the undergraduate brothers is through our Mentoring Program developed by Dean Wright, Delta-Pi ’80. Dean modeled ours on the yearlong program used by the SMU Cox School of Business. Dean has participated in SMU’s program where he was assigned to mentor a student interested in pursuing a Real Estate career. After completing the program Dean felt it would be beneficial for all students, not just the business majors, so we matched a volunteer alumni with each Kappa Sigma Senior based upon their career interests. This worked pretty well until we got down to the political consultant and the film major. Amazingly that pairing turned out to be one of our best success stories when the political consultant introduced our film student to a Hollywood Director! We’ve run the program several times now with students from both the Delta-Pi (SMU) and Nu-Omicron (UTD) Chapters. The program is self-paced and easily modified to fit any industry. Tad Perryman, Theta-Psi ’84, works in Advertising and offers internships to the students he mentors. Tad is always in high demand and often works with two students each term.

We also support the undergrads by advertising their Chapter’s fundraising events on our Yahoo Group and website, encouraging alumni participation in their events. The local DGMs have also turned to the Dallas Alumni Chapter when they need volunteers to fill vacant AAA positions.

Our website to gives the opportunity for graduating senios to post their résumés. Initial response to this idea has been very favorable; in fact, we’re actually getting more interest in this from Alumni who want to post too.
